It was such a great event that really expanded our experience on concert band performance. Overview of MIGF Media Launch, 22nd & 23rd Sept 2012

The atmosphere was one of excitement around the Concourse of Sunway Pyramid shopping centre on 22 September, with the crowds starting to gather awaiting the Media Launch of MIGF 2012.

The stage was set with a backdrop featuring a philharmonic hall feel, while off to one side was a concert band from Air Symphony tuning up. And to the back was a line of tables topped with beautiful dishes.

There was a buzz as guests and curious shoppers milled about, and they didn’t have long to wait to find out, as the concert band of Air Symphony struck up with a classical fanfare from James Swearingen’s Majestia as the Guest of Honour, Minister of Tourism Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, made her entrance accompanied by MIGF Organising Chairman Dato’ Steve Day.

And soon it was time for speeches, with Dato’ Steve introducing the 12th edition of MIGF, themed “Classical Chefs – A Symphony of Great Cuisines”, where from 1-31 October, 28 of Malaysia’s finest restaurants serve up Special Festival Menus at Special Festival prices accompanied by a host of Special Festival Offers.

Then, it continued with the concert band performance of Air Symphony after the remarkable speech from Dato Sri Dr Ng. The concert band of Air Symphony performed a series of music to the audience, such as The Minute in G, Majestia, Freedom Light, King of Pops and many more. The concert band performance was ended in the late evening with the concert band of Air Symphony performed the last music, Rock n Roll. And this music earned a huge numbers of applauds for the concert band performance.

From the music to the food, it was a symphony of fun, scrumptious delights and great offerings at the Gala Launch of the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2012 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre on 27 September.

Graced by Tourism Minister Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, and attended by Malaysia’s who’s who as well as members of the media and the foodie blogosphere, the night started with the concert band from Air Symphony dressed in chef’s whites serenading guests as they mingled in the foyer, in line with the theme “Classical Chefs – A Symphony of Great Cuisines”.

The concert band of Air Symphony performed a series of music to welcome the entire guest, such as The Four Seasons, Minute in G, Freedom Light, and many more. The concert band of Air symphony performance was ended as soon as MIGF’s VIP, Minister of Tourism Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, and MIGF Royal Patron Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Ja’afar, made their entrance accompanied by MIGF Organising Chairman Dato’ Steve Day with the concert band performance of the last music, Majestia. This welcoming ceremony had generated a huge numbers of applauds for the concert band performance.

And as anticipation of the launch grew, MIGF Organising Chairman Dato’ Steve Day threw up a surprise that was met with plenty of chuckles, disguising himself among the musicians of the concert band with everyone wearing a mask of his face. Then everyone trooped off-stage, leaving behind one masked man carrying a tuba – none other than Dato’ Steve himself.

Then, with a swipe of knives, Dato’ Sri Dr Ng, Dato’ Steve and MIGF Royal Patron Tunku Naquiyuddin Tunku Ja’afar opened the 12th edition of MIGF, which serves up Special Festival Menus at Special Festival prices accompanied by a host of Special Festival Offers from 1-31 October. Immediately, the concert band of Air Symphony struck out an energetic music to bring the hall to its climax.
